The journey is a man-powered pilgrimage across the American landscape, and chronicles the six men's experience and efforts to leave the agonizing past, while honoring the dead. The film is also an irreproducible snapshot of how Americans everywhere took their first steps into the dawn of the post-September 11th era. In-depth interviews give voice to rural and small town Americans, caring for a drama that took place hundreds of miles away, but mattered no less.
